2025 The OJ Simpson trial: An ethics breakdown

Total Credits: 1.0 MCLE, 1.0 Ethics

Practice Area:
Ethics

Dates

Description

Step inside one of the most infamous legal battles in history—this time, through the lens of attorney ethics. It's ok if you don't remember the details (or you're too young to have witnessed it), the CLE Performer Stuart Teicher will fill you in on the story. Then he'll unpack the high-stakes ethical dilemmas that shaped the defense strategy. What ethical lines were pushed, bent, or outright broken? And what lessons can modern lawyers take from the legal spectacle that captivated a nation?

Learning objectives:

  • Attorney Statements & Self-Preservation – Shapiro’s press conference and its conflict with Rule 1.7 (Conflict of Interest: Current Clients).
  • Presentation of Evidence & False Impressions – Cochran’s strategic home staging and its implications under Rule 3.3 (Candor Toward the Tribunal).
  • What F. Lee Bailey's cross examination of Mark Furhman teaches about competence (Rule 1.1) and persistence (Rule 1.3, Diligence).

Speaker: Stuart Teicher, The CLE Performer
