2022 Identity Theft

The presentation will discuss what identity theft is, how it is most commonly accomplished, the most common federal and Missouri state statutes used to prosecute these offenses, and what steps can be taken to prevent and manage a data breach. 

The focus of the presentation will be identifying identity theft from the perspective of: 
1.    the legal system
2.    the alleged fraudster
3.    the alleged victim
We will explain how identify theft is typically accomplished and which federal and state statutes are most commonly implicated.
