Description

This program will focus on pandemic employment issues with a coast to coast perspective.  Featuring national employment practitioners from New York to California, this program will provide practical, timely legal considerations as considered in the context of the pandemic workplace. Among the issues to be addressed are return to work issues, vaccination issues, remote work conditions, business reimbursements considerations, wage and hour issues, leaves of absence considerations, and various legal aspects of managing the workforce in the pandemic context. 

The learning objectives include providing pragmatic legal insights with respect to managing the pandemic workforce; managing leaves of absence in the pandemic context; understanding and implementing effective wage and hour policies in light of the pandemic context; and effectively addressing legal issues in the return to work and remote work context.

Norma is a seasoned litigator with more than 15 years of litigation experience. She focuses her practice on product liability, commercial litigation, intellectual property and bankruptcy matters, appearing before state and federal courts in Texas and elsewhere. Norma has defended clients in product liability-related matters involving thousands of plaintiffs. She has also represented clients in complex commercial litigation matters, handling a range of business disputes including breach of contract, covenants not to compete, business dissolutions, and fraud and fraudulent misrepresentation claims. Additionally, she has created strategies for clients seeking bankruptcy protection. Finally, she has defended clients in personal injury and intellectual property matters.

Norma has conducted all phases of litigation, including case strategy, written discovery, eDiscovery, depositions, expert witness preparation, damages, motion practice, trials and appeals. She also has considerable experience in representing clients in arbitration before the American Arbitration Association.

She also has significant experience in managing, directing and coordinating complex litigation, including supervising and directing teams of associates, paralegals, technical analysts and staff. She has also coordinated complex litigation through joint-defense groups and local counsel across jurisdictions.
