This presentation will cover what practicing attorneys need to know about addiction in the legal profession. We will discuss the prevalence of addiction in the legal profession, common warning signs, how unaddressed substance concerns can impact law licenses, related rules of professional conduct and recovery as a risk reducer. We will highlight resources available for lawyers and law firms, including lawyer assistance programs, Rule 16, the model policy, recent efforts to promote lawyer well-being on a national level, and related tools.
